Older Vero Beach homes and their panels

A lot of Vero Beach houses went up between the 1950s and the 1980s, in neighborhoods like McAnsh Park, Osceola Park, Rockridge, and the streets around downtown and the Twin Pairs. Many still have their original panel, or one that has been added onto a few times since.

Breakers that trip often, a panel that feels warm, lights that dim when the AC starts, or a house that needs more circuits than it was built with are all good reasons to have it looked at. We’ll tell you what we find and what we’d recommend.

Beachside, the lagoon, and salt air

On the island, along Ocean Drive, Central Beach, and Riomar, and on homes that face the Indian River Lagoon, salt air is hard on anything electrical that lives outside. Meter cans, outdoor outlets, pool equipment, dock power, and landscape lighting fixtures all corrode faster near the water.

It often shows up as a GFCI outlet that won’t reset, a fixture that quits, or rust on a box or cover. If outdoor electrical at your place is rusting or acting up, call and we’ll come look.

Getting ready for hurricane season

Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30. Plenty of people in Vero Beach still remember the long outages after Frances and Jeanne in 2004 and plan around them.

A whole-home generator or a home battery is backup power that keeps the essentials running when the grid is down. Which one fits depends on the house, the panel, and what you want to keep on, so we look before we recommend anything.
